Get ready for a theatrical journey into the heart of early 20th-century Chicago! On Sunday, September 7th, at 12 noon, Perennial Theatre Chicago will present “Bread and Salt” at the Printers Row Lit Fest, CENTER STAGE.
This FREE event will transform the streets of South Dearborn, from Ida B Wells to Polk, into a stage. The show will go on, rain or shine!
A Theatrical Adaptation of Carl Sandburg’s Chicago
“Bread and Salt” is a unique play created by Charles Gerace, drawing inspiration from “Chicago Poems” (1916) by Carl Sandburg and his autobiography, “always the Young Strangers” (1953). The play uses sandburg’s original words, complemented by music from his book, “The American Songbag”.
All words in the text are Sandburg’s and the music comes from his book, “The American Songbag”.
