BRADENTON, Fla. — A man was arrested on a second-degree murder charge nearly a week after a woman was found stabbed to death in Manatee County, police say.
At around 8:30 p.m. on Sept. 28, officers with the Bradenton Police Department responded to a minor traffic accident on 8th Ave. E. After arriving, they found a woman, identified by authorities as 44-year-old Thania Fuenmayor, lying outside of her SUV with extensive stab wounds.
Fuenmayor died at the scene despite aid from officers and first responders, according to the police department.
During the investigation, authorities say they found multiple items, including a knife. They later identified Frandisco Ramos-Moradel, 69, as the suspect.
Police say the two were acquaintances, and Ramos-Moradel lived about two blocks away from the crime scene.
As of Saturday, he is in custody at the Hillsborough County jail and is awaiting extradition to Manatee County.
An investigation is ongoing.
