Gabriel Katopodis, Minister of Infrastructure and Public Services of Buenos Aires, came out to criticize the national government for the floods in the Province. “The Comprehensive Master Plan for the Salado River Basin is a State policy that, since 1997, has been developed jointly between the National Government and the Province of Buenos Aires. Each jurisdiction carried out works uninterruptedly until December 2023. From that moment on, the Nation paralyzed the works corresponding to stage 2 of section 4, as happened with 2,308 public works throughout the country,” the minister clarified.

“The interruption of that phase, which had a high degree of progress and the guaranteed investment (Water Fund that they do not execute), hindered the efforts to obtain international financing for section 5, which will be in charge of the Province. The work has been stopped for almost two years. If the previous pace of execution had been maintained, the work on section 4 could have been completed during 2024,” he highlighted.

And he concluded: “We said it and we maintain it: investment in infrastructure is essential so that Argentina can grow by producing more and with a higher quality of life for citizens. In situations like this is when the true value of public works and the joint work of different areas of the State are demonstrated.”
