Bologna & Ravenna Flood Alert: Orange Warning Until Midnight

For today, Thursday 30 October, starting from 12 and until midnighthas been issued an orange alert due to floods of the rivers in the provinces of Bologna and Ravenna.

In the second part of the day, in fact, the persistence of unstable weather conditions with rainfall that will mainly affect the central-western Apennine areas of the region with a tendency to attenuate the phenomena in the evening. The current and expected rainfall causes floods on the watercourses of the central-western sector, which will spread into the valley sections with levels above threshold 1. On the Rhine river a flood is expected with levels above thresholds 2 in the mountainous section, progressively rolling towards the valley.

The precipitation expected in the central western mountains could generate localized landslides, runoff on the slopes and rapid increases in hydrometric levels in the mountain watercourses spread across the Bologna area.

The alert is orange color also due to landslides and floods in the minor courses only in the province of Bologna. It is, however, yellow due to river flooding in the provinces of Piacenza, Parma, Reggio Emilia, Modena and Ferrara; yellow for landslides and floods in the minor courses in the provinces of Piacenza, Parma, Reggio Emilia and Modena; yellow due to wind in the provinces of Piacenza, Parma, Reggio Emilia, Modena, Bologna, Forlì-Cesena and Rimini.
