La Paz, January 8, 2026 (UC011/MSyD).- The Minister of Health and Sports, Marcela Flores Zambrana, together with representatives of the National Federation of Mining Cooperatives (FENCOMIN) and its departmental delegates, held a meeting to learn about their requirements regarding the health area of the mining sector.
During the meeting, the cooperative sector expressed the need to have timely health care close to their source of work, which due to the same conditions does not have immediate access, having to travel to the hospital center that serves the sector’s social security.
Minister Flores reported that it is necessary to make modifications to the Unified Health System (SUS) and a meeting is already planned with the Ministry of Labor and other organizations to advance this issue, which will allow social security to be integrated into a single national system while respecting the sources of financing.
In relation to the request to establish regulations for cornea donation, the first authority of this state portfolio reported that 22 draft laws were sent to the Vice Minister of Coordination of Parliamentary Affairs, among which there is the law on tissue and organ donation, another on the voluntary donor and another draft for the creation of the eye bank.
The representatives of the sector highlighted the willingness to dialogue, mainly the opening of these spaces to listen to their demands and emphasized their availability to support the ministry’s work to improve the health system for all sectors and the population in general.
