The Bank of Korea’s Monetary Policy Committee decided on the 27th to maintain the base interest rate at 2.50% per annum. This is the fourth consecutive freeze decision. It is interpreted that the high exchange rate and housing prices in the metropolitan area were taken into consideration.
After previously lowering the base interest rate from 2.75% to 2.5% in May, the Monetary Policy Committee took a breather three times in July, August, and October, considering the rising housing prices in the metropolitan area.
