Bodø/Glimt Star: Bewitched? – NRK Sport

by Archynetys Sports Desk

There have been many questions for Bodø/Glimt coach Kjetil Knutsen this autumn.

A number of times he has tried to explain why Høgh has stopped scoring goals.

On Tuesday it happened again: Høgh had several chances to score, but once again he strolled off the pitch without a goal.

– He must have struggled a bit, but he works well in training and he does not lose heart. We just have to try to help him as best we can, says teammate Ole Didrik Blomberg to NRK.

On Tuesday, it was also confirmed that Høgh no longer has responsibility for taking penalties.

Kasper Høgh has taken two penalties in the Meisterliga, with both missed.

On Tuesday, it was Sondre Brunstad Fet who took the penalty – and scored.

– Are you the one taking the penalty in Bodø now?

– Right now, yes, replies Fet.

Feira with Høgh

Kasper Høgh has two goals (one goal and one assist) in the last 15 games.

The goal-scoring pass came against Juventus on Tuesday. After the goal, Blomberg ran straight over to Høgh to celebrate with him.

– I know we have a good “connection”, and then he said that “now I owe him one”, explains Blomberg.

But the goal is still missing for Høgh. The weak involvements have risen in the autumn.

This happened, for example, last Friday against YMCA Oslo

  • Høgh put the ball in the goal just before the break, but the goal was canceled due to offside.
  • Høgh came alone with the goalkeeper, but got a bad touch and lost the ball.

On top of this, he was offside early in the match which meant that a Glimt goal was disallowed.

– The man is bewitched, reported TV 2’s commentator Simen Stamsø Møller.

– So there are so many posts and misses on Kasper Høgh this season, Møller reported.

– Bewitch and bewitch

Bodø/Glimt’s Haitam Aleesami pulls on the smile band when NRK relays the message.

– Bewitch and bewitch, says Aleesami, and hits back:

– If you look at the effort he puts in, how he wins duels and second balls… He does a fantastic job, he says.

But in front of goal, he has had a terrible fall. He has eight straight games without a goal. The last scoring was against Sarpsborg 08 on 18 October.

This is in stark contrast to the start of the season. Then Høgh was the supreme top scorer in the elite series.

– Standing in this is a learning process for him. It will be mentally demanding. He does a lot well, but has a bit of a margin against it, says trainer Kjetil Knutsen.

– He is doing the best he can, we can’t wait any longer, he says.

– It’s a mental thing for strikers. You want to score so badly, sometimes you want a little too much, says Aleesami.

Wasting

NRK’s football expert does not buy that explanation.

– I can’t see what he’s good at. When measured against Meisterliga quality, he does not have the necessary quality.

That is the verdict from Carl-Erik Torp.

Torp has seen all of Glimt’s championship games from the stands, and has not been impressed.

– There is no x-factor. He doesn’t get ahead of his guards when it comes to goals, and becomes far too passive, says Torp.

He refers to Glimt’s former strikers, Victor Boniface and Faris Pemi Moumbagna.

– These are types that would have caused much more trouble for the opponent. Then Bodø/Glimt would have had more points in the Champions League, says Carl-Erik Torp.

Against Juventus it happened again: Høgh strolled off the pitch scoreless.

Campaign includes several penalty misses, post shots and canceled offside goals.

– He remains standing in a position where he can never score, says Torp, who rightly lifts Høgh up a bit:

– So far he works well for the team and is important on defensive set pieces. But it should be a minimum requirement for a Glimt tip.
