Ayrton Costa Cleared to Participate in Club World Cup After Visa U-Turn


Boca Juniors defender Ayrton Costa will be able to participate in the Club World Cup in the United States, following a reversal by U.S.immigration officials who had previously rejected his visa application, the Argentine club announced on Friday.

According to a club spokesperson, “ayrton Costa has been granted a 26-day special visa.”

Costa’s initial visa denial stemmed from a criminal complaint in Argentina related to an aggravated robbery in 2018. He avoided trial by accepting a probationary sentence in 2023.

U.S. officials had initially steadfast that he coudl not enter the country while still serving his sentence.
