Starting: 7:00 pm
A collaborative chamber program explores the musical traditions of Eastern Europe, drawing on the folk-influenced rhythms, expressive melodies and lyrical depth of composers from Romania, Bulgaria and Hungary.
The concert, which brings together members of the New World Symphony and the Mount Vernon Virtuosi String Quartet in their first collaboration, highlights the enduring influence of Eastern European music on the chamber’s repertoire. Through tightly woven ensemble performance and evocative musical storytelling, the program charts a cultural landscape shaped by regional identity, movement and emotional intensity.
Presented as part of the NWS BLUE project, the performance reflects New World Symphony’s commitment to experimentation, leadership development and artistic collaboration. BLUE, which stands for Build, Learn, Understand and Experience, combines performance with hands-on training that supports Fellows as emerging leaders in the field.
BLUE Concert: Chamber Masterworks of Eastern Europe takes place on Tuesday, January 27, at the New World Center. Tickets are pay-what-you-wish, and benefits go to New World Symphony fellows.
