Blind Football Bundesliga Final: BVB Title Bid

by Archynetys Sports Desk

Borussia Dortmund can win the German championship for the first time in the club’s history on October 11, 2025 in Nuremberg on October 11, 2025. The BVB is at the top of the table one match day before the end of the season and can become champions against SF BG Blista Marburg (1.45 p.m.) on its own. Will the big coup really succeed?

Philippe Berthold formulates the goal. “We want to get the title. This time it is our turn,” says Borussia Dortmund’s defender in the run -up to the showdown in Franconia. “We have been playing an outstanding season so far and have laid the foundation. Now we want to take the last step.”

In fact, the Dortmunders have so far been convincingly marched through the season. With 18 points after seven encounters, BVB towers at the top. There are only one defeat six of the victories-but it was against the eternal Ruhrpott rival FC Schalke 04. “As Borussia Dortmund, nobody likes to lose against Schalke 04,” laughs coach Enrico Göbel. “But with winning the German championship, we could definitely compensate for this flaw,” says Göbel with a wink.

The first championship title in blind football for Borussia Dortmund is waving.

Excellent starting situation for BVB

The Dortmunders have developed an excellent starting position. A victory against Sportfreunde BG Blista Marburg is sure to be enough, a draw usually too. In the event of a defeat, Marburg and FC St. Pauli can still pass. But BVB’s blind soccer players want to prevent this under all circumstances. “Last season we lost on the last day of the game and therefore unfortunately played a better placement rather than fourth place,” warns the former Marburger Berthold. “That should be a warning to us and must not happen again.”

The Dortmunders go to the final game day with a lot of confidence, after all, there were almost only convincing victories during the season – including a 7: 3 against record champion MTV Stuttgart and a 5-0 against the incumbent German champion FC St. Pauli. “We showed what we are capable of,” emphasizes Berthold: “If we get the performance back on the pitch, we will get the title.” And coach Göbel adds: “Nothing is yet won, but we all have this dream and will do our best so that it will come true.”

Support also from BVB President Lunow

The Dortmunders learn a lot of support from those responsible from the club. BVB President Reinhold Lunow, for example, was already on site this season and was personally convinced of the fascination with the blind football. It is planned that he will also be there on the final day.

In addition to the Bundesliga, the association also enables the blind footballers to take part in an international game round with top teams from Italy, France and England. “We really appreciate this because it is by no means a matter of course and by traveling with costs,” says coach Göbel.

BVB coach was formerly a national goalkeeper

The Thuringian Göbel has been a coach of BVB’s blind footballer for two years. When he came, he designed a three-year plan with a great goal. “Establishing a game idea takes time and a lot of training together. I would like to have a little more of both,” adds Göbel and is pleased that his team is implementing the principles better and better. The goal: BVB should win the German championship under its responsibility at the latest in the third year. Now it is possible to achieve this one season earlier. Before his time as head coach at BVB, Göbel ended his career in the national blind soccer team. He was active as a goalkeeper and in the coaching staff for over eleven years.

The time is over. Now a new era is to begin, which at best finds its first sporting highlight in Nuremberg on October 11th – with the winning of the German Cup in Blind Football with BVB. One step is still necessary.

The final game day takes place as part of the football inclusion days.

Actor Wotan Wilke Möhring also keeps his fingers crossed

The season finale is embedded in the football inclusion days. In this context, the colorful variety of handicap football will be presented to the main public on the main market in Nuremberg from October 10th to 12th.

Actor Wotan Wilke Möhring also supports the event as part of the “Elf for Inclusion”. Möhring is a big BVB fan and will of course keep my fingers crossed for the blind footballers of his club on Saturday: “I am very happy to be part of this idea and to contribute to the fact that inclusion takes place in the middle of our society. Of course, I am particularly pleased that BVB has the best chance of winning the German championship in the blind football. The athletes deserve all support.”

Entry to all actions within the framework of the inclusion of football is free. For blind and visually impaired people, the encounters of the blind football Bundesliga are commented on on site and on the Internet by game descriptions. All games are transmitted live in the online stream to Sportdeutschland.tv and on the DFB youtube channel.

The blind football Bundesliga has been organized by the DFB Foundation Sepp Herberger since 2008 together with the German Disabled Sports Association and the German Association of Blind and Visual Course.

The blind soccer Bundesliga is supported by Deutsche Telekom, Volkswagen and Vanda Pharmaceuticals. Further information at www.blindenfussball.de
