The Brazilian remains as the most important market in South America and has just closed the best year of 0 km sales since the pandemic. During 2025, a total of 2,549,462 patentscounting cars and light commercial vehicles. If trucks and buses were added, the count exceeds 2.69 million.
Argentina continues to be the main Brazilian partner in the automotive industry, despite the evolution that Chinese vehicles showed in the neighboring country.
During 2025, vehicles manufactured in Argentine plants that were patented in Brazil reached 200,335 unitswhich reflect a drop of 10.8% compared to 2024, against the 187,327 vehicles from China, which represented a growth of 55.6%.
The specialization that the national industry has taken in the production of medium-sized trucks allows it to continue having that privileged place in the most important market in the region. In fact, the best-selling pickups in that segment there are Argentine.
But there is also room for more accessible models, which are the ones that dominate sales in Brazil, although the share of models made in Argentina does not have the importance that pickups represent.
The best-selling model in Brazil in 2025 was once again the Fiat Strada pickup (142,903 units) for the fifth consecutive year. It was escorted by the Volkswagen Polo (122,677) and the Fiat Argo (102,639). All these models and even the Top Ten complete from last year are of Brazilian production.
If the analysis is by brand, the leadership is also Fiat, with 533,710 vehicles patented last year, followed by Volkswagen (436,297) and General Motors (275,965).
Among the first 20 models that sold the most last year in the Brazilian market, there is only one produced in Argentina, the Toyota Hilux, and it occupies 19th position in the ranking.
With 49,732 units sold in Brazil, the truck made in Zárate leads the midsize pickup segment. And that number represents more than a third of what the local subsidiary of the Japanese brand exported last year, when it shipped 140,768 units.
The second best-selling Argentine model on Brazilian soil is also a pickup, the Ford Ranger that the oval brand produces in General Pacheco, province of Buenos Aires.
With 34,063 examples, it is also the second best-selling medium truck in Brazil and ranks 27th in the total ranking. That number reflects the importance of the Argentine truck since represents more than 62% of the American brand’s total sales in the neighboring country.
Both Hilux and Ranger are located above the Chevrolet S10 (31,458), produced in Brazil and which has dominated that segment in the past. In this way, something that also occurs in the Argentine market is repeated, since the two trucks are also the best-selling pickups in our country.
Continuing with the ranking of the best-selling vehicles made in Argentina in Brazil, the Fiat Cronos appears: the compact manufactured in Córdoba, which was once the greatest exponent of the national industryA couple of years ago, it sold 26,552 copies and ranked 32nd in the total ranking. And it is the fifth most chosen sedan in Brazil.
The Toyota SW4, the 4×4 that shares a platform with the Hilux truck and is also produced in Zárate, registered patents for 17,075 copies, which leaves it within the top 50 (45th position) and well above the Chevrolet Trailblazer (2,192), another model with similar characteristics and Brazilian production.
Further back appear the Volkswagen Taos (12,920), which was discontinued from the Pacheco assembly line last year; and the Peugeot 2008 and 208 produced in El Palomar, with 11,312 and 9,809 patented units respectively. These latest models began to be offered last year mild hybridized versions in the Brazilian market, which will only be available in 2026 in Argentina.
Other nationally produced models that appear in Brazilian sales are the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter (8,257 vehicles were exported), the Fiat Titano (6,437 units were patented in total, but it is not known specifically how many are from Córdoba production), the Nissan Frontier (5,091), which ceased national production last year, the Renault Kangoo (4,432) and the Volkswagen Amarok (2,730).
