Bernice Liu HKU: Students Didn’t Recognise TVB Star

by Archynetys Entertainment Desk

Former TVB actress Bernice Liu, 46, recently caught the attention of netizens after photos of her giving a lecture at The University of Hong Kong’s Centennial College surfaced on Xiaohongshu.

Since leaving TVB in 2011, Bernice gradually stepped away from the spotlight to focus on building her F&B and wine empire.

She’s now a certified sommelier, has her own wine label Bellavizio, and is the proud owner of a vineyard in France.

Earlier this year, she even received a medal by the French government for her contributions to wine culture. Not bad for someone who only completed her degree in 2020 after pressing pause on her studies two decades ago to pursue acting.

Her wine credentials have clearly paid off. Bernice was recently invited to HKU as a guest lecturer, where she shared her expertise on — what else? — wine investment.

According to one student, Bernice introduced herself as a “former TVB actress who starred in many dramas”, but none of them recognised her. Ouch.

But the student added that the class was “very interesting” and yes, they even got to taste some wine.

She conducted the entire session in English and appeared every bit the professional in the photos.

Of course, the internet had plenty to say.

Some netizens were shocked at how different she looked, commenting that she’d put on weight. Others rushed to her defense, saying she still looks great — “even prettier than when she was younger”, one wrote.

And honestly? We agree. Must be all the wine she’s drinking.

Bernice herself even popped into the comment section, writing: “Hello, classmate! Hope you enjoyed today’s lesson, Cheers!”
