by Archynetys Sports Desk

Christian Benteke has been playing in Major League Soccer for three years now, where he shines. At 34, the Belgian striker is not yet thinking about retirement, far from it.

With 49 goals and 11 assists in 100 games with DC United, Benteke is considered one of the best strikers in the American championship. But after three years in MLS, doesn’t the former Red Devil want to take on a new challenge?

Will he leave DC United?

“DC United have an option for an additional season, which they can exercise. We will see what the club wants to do. I am currently in discussions with Kismet Eris, my agent, to determine the best solution for me,” Benteke told La Capitale.

He says he feels good in the United States: “I don’t have many years left, I want to make the wisest decision. I can see myself continuing my career here, even if I don’t rule out any possibility.”

Benteke feels that he no longer has the same feelings as 5 or 10 years ago: “Especially after matches. There is a little more fatigue, stiffness and aches, and sometimes an extra day of rest is necessary. But in training, everything is still going well.”

His journey

As a reminder, Benteke wore the colors of Standard, Genk, Kortrijk, Mechelen, Aston Villa, Liverpool, Crystal Palace and therefore DC United during his career. He also has 45 caps with Belgium.
