Benjamin Karl Gold: Snowboarder’s Balotelli-esque Celebration

Japan’s snowboarders celebrated a double victory in the big air competition. Kira Kimura jumped on Saturday evening Snow Park from Livigno to Olympic gold. The 21-year-old beat his teammate after three rounds with 179.50 points Ryoma Kimatawho was eight points behind, in second place. Bronze went to them Su Yimingthe Olympic champion in Beijing. The Chinese scored 168.50 points.

Of the three rounds, two jumps were counted. Kimura was in the lead after the first round, but then crashed. With the last jump and the day’s highest score of 90.50 points, he deservedly secured gold.
