According to European regulations, only hemp seeds, seed oils, and hemp infusions are permitted. Consumers are advised not to drink the beer, which is sold in 50 cl bottles, and to return it to the point of sale for a refund. The beer was sold for two years by retailers such as Biocoop, V and B, and Vinobeer.

“A little surprise”

Rémi winterholer, founder of the brewery located in Villenave-d’Ornon, expressed his surprise at the recall: “It was a little surprise, as it was a very appreciated product of my customers,” he told Figaro.

“What revolts me is that hemp flowers are sold to be smoked afterwards, in certain shops or in tobacco, and that we cannot use them in food,” the brewer stated, while also asserting that his product poses no health risks to consumers.
