Last weekend,over 2,000 eager students from the Duc Trong District in Lam Dong province actively participated in a consultation program focused on navigating the complexities of examination season and future career paths.This event, co-organized by the Ministry of Education and Training and the Department of Education and Training of Lam dong, underscored the critical need for informed decision-making among students as they approach pivotal educational milestones.

Deciphering the Path to Becoming an Educator

A recurring theme during the consultation was the accessibility of teaching careers for students pursuing non-education specializations.Dr. Huynh Trung Phong from Ho Chi Minh Ville University of Education clarified that while students in non-educational fields, such as physics or literature, are required to obtain a teaching certificate, they are indeed eligible to become teachers. He also noted the tuition fee structure for non-education specializations, averaging between 6 to 7 million VND per semester. However, academic excellence can unlock scholarship opportunities, benefiting approximately 15-20% of the student body annually.

Moreover, dr. phong emphasized the Ministry of Education and TrainingS stipulations regarding admission thresholds,ensuring quality in educational contributions. As an example, prospective candidates must demonstrate strong academic performance, with specific requirements varying across different pedagogical fields. For physical education, preschool education and musical pedagogy, academic results will have to be just or superior.

Students can thus be assured of their job prospects by choosing to specialize in teaching.

Addressing concerns about unemployment in business-related fields, Master Pham Quang Truong from the International University of Saigon stressed the importance of self-awareness and strategic planning. He advised students to conduct thorough research and establish clear goals before committing to a specialization, mitigating the risk of unemployment nonetheless of the chosen field.

Echoing this sentiment,Master Nguyen Thi KIM PHUNG from the University of Finance – Marketing elaborated on the comprehensive knowledge base offered by business management programs.These programs cover diverse areas such as human resources, production, marketing, and finance, equipping students with the tools to effectively manage and operate a business. She emphasized that while business administration provides essential management knowledge, additional skills in marketing, communications, and brand management are crucial for entrepreneurial success.

Adapting to Technological Advancements

In light of rapid technological advancements,particularly in artificial intelligence (AI),students expressed concerns about job displacement. Dr. Tran Huu Duy reassured students that while AI is transforming industries, it cannot fully replace human capabilities, especially in areas requiring reflection, emotion, and interpersonal interaction. He emphasized the importance of mastering technology to enhance one’s skill set and remain competitive in the job market.

However, students should strategically select optional subjects that align with university combinations to maximize their opportunities for admission.
