Beat Sugar Addiction: Proven Methods & Tips

Many people eat large amounts of processed sweets, and then the desire to eat sweets becomes intense, and it is not easy to quit.

The Independent newspaper revealed effective ways to get rid of sugar addiction.

“It takes about 3 to 4 weeks to break a habit,” says Dr. Vijaya Surampudi, an assistant professor at the UCLA Health School. “So one of my favorite methods is to stop abruptly.”

While others believe that the sudden method will not last long, and that gradually reducing sugar intake by eating less sugary foods and smaller meals can help reduce cravings.

“An approach that is too abrupt will not work in the long run,” says registered dietitian Beth Cerrone of the Cleveland Clinic, who suggests replacing sweets and eating fruit instead.

Cheroni advises, “Quickly replace coated chocolate with sweet, healthy fruit. Fruit contains sugars, sometimes amounting to approximately 20 grams per piece, but they are natural and come with a host of other benefits.”

The fructose found in fruit is not harmful when extracted from the fruit, unlike other products.

“Unless you have diabetes or another health condition that requires monitoring your blood sugar levels, you’re probably not eating enough fruit for sugar to be a concern,” Cheroni explains.

Dietary recommendations call for eating about two cups of fruit daily.

In addition to the plan to gradually reduce sugars, experts advise paying attention to sleep, exercising, drinking a sufficient amount of water, and touching grass, as all of these are things that distract attention and prevent cravings for sugar.

Drinking water is crucial. Women should drink at least 2.7 liters per day, and men should drink 3.7 liters.
