Beast of Reincarnation is certainly something we didn’t expect from Pokemon developer Game Freak. But when we watched the recent gameplay preview as part of the Xbox Developer Direct, some pointed out that the action RPG was akin to Soulslikes.
In an interview with Famitsu (transcribed by GamesRadar+), the game’s director Kota Furushima claims that Beast of Reincarnation is very unlike Souls-like games. It will have difficulty levels, a linear structure and no online elements.
While not all of these features take it away from its Souls-like structure, the level of difficulty helps set the game apart from the rest. “We made it so that it is enjoyable even for those who are not good at action games”, sa Furushima. “You can choose the difficulty, so I recommend choosing a lower difficulty if you’re unsure. Personally, I think with the skill trees and support that Koo offers, people can enjoy finding their own approach that essentially lowers the difficulty.”
Beast of Reincarnation is released this summer for Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC.
