Bears Trade Khalil Herbert to Bengals For Draft Pick
In a move that shakes up the Chicago Bears’ backfield, the team has traded running back Khalil Herbert to the Cincinnati Bengals in exchange for a 2025 seventh-round draft pick. This trade marks the end of Herbert’s four-year tenure with the Bears, a stint that saw him carve out a respectable role despite limited opportunities.
Looking Back at Herbert’s Time in Chicago
Herbert, who entered the NFL as a sixth-round pick in 2021, showcased his versatility during his time with the Bears. Over 48 games, he accumulated 1,791 rushing yards and nine touchdowns, proving himself a capable runner. Adding to his offensive contributions, Herbert also caught 45 passes for 291 yards and two scores, demonstrating his value as a dual-threat back.
Beyond his running prowess, Herbert also contributed on special teams, mainly during his rookie year, returning 27 kickoffs for 650 yards. While his role diminished this season, with just eight carries for 16 yards in five games, his impact on the Bears’ offense should not be overlooked.
Chicago’s Draft Day Assets Grow
This trade brings the Bears’ total number of picks in the 2025 NFL Draft to eight selections spread across five rounds. This roster flexibility further strengthens the Bears’ position as they continue to build for the future.
They secured a haul of draft capital in the blockbuster trade with the Carolina Panthers that sent the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 draft for wide receiver DJ Moore, along with four other draft selections.
