The city of BATUMI played host to the WTT Youth Contender Batumi 2025, a tournament that attracted approximately 160 young table tennis athletes representing 20 different member associations. This event marks the fourth occasion that Georgia has hosted a stage of the WTT Youth Series, with this year’s competition being the largest to date.

ITTF President Petra Sörling was present at the event and participated in the opening ceremony alongside several distinguished guests, including Shalva Gogoladze, Minister of Sport of Georgia; Maia Khajishvili, Minister of Education and Sport of Adjara; Pedro Moura, President of the European Table Tennis Union; Guram Gogoladze, President of the Georgian Table Tennis Federation; and Tariel khechikashvili, President of the International Foundation of Sport, Tourism and Youth.

The WTT Youth Contender Batumi 2025 was a collaborative effort between World Table Tennis and the Georgian Table Tennis Federation, receiving support from both the Ministry of Sport of Georgia and the Autonomous Republic of Adjara.

President Sörling commended the local organizers for their dedication and congratulated guram Gogoladze, President of the Georgian Table Tennis Federation, for his effective leadership in promoting the growth of table tennis within the region.
