OSS, Netherlands – A base jumper found himself in a precarious situation in
Oss after becoming entangled in an antenna mast at approximately 50 meters
(164 feet) above the ground. Following a successful rescue, the individual
was taken into custody by local police for unauthorized entry onto private
property.
The incident occurred around 7 a.m. when construction workers noticed the
jumper stuck in the telecom mast on Aengelbertlaan. The circumstances
leading to the entanglement remain unclear, as is the length of time the
person was stranded.

Authorities cordoned off the area around the mast and temporarily shut down
the antenna. Initial attempts by the fire brigade to use an aerial platform
were unsuccessful due to height limitations.
Afterward, a specialized high-altitude rescue team from the
Brabant-Noord safety region was dispatched.After an extended operation, the
team successfully brought the individual down to safety at approximately
10:30 a.m. Three rescuers ascended the mast to secure ropes,allowing the
base jumper to descend using their own harness.
An ambulance was present to assess the jumper, who was found to be unharmed.
According to reports from
Omroep Brabant, the jumper stated that becoming entangled
in the mast was not intentional.
Aftermath
Despite the successful rescue, the individual was taken into custody for
questioning. A police spokesperson stated that the individual was on private
property without permission.
Moreover, the shutdown of the antenna mast led to unspecified
disruptions. Authorities are in contact with the mast’s owner to assess any
potential damages.
