Club Brugge and Barcelona played hard with six goals, sharing the points in an entertaining 3-3 draw. The Belgian side avenged back-to-back defeats in the Champions League with a solid point. Meanwhile, Barcelona came from three times behind to secure a result that could be decisive in their bid to secure a place in the last 16 of the competition.
Brugge took an early lead when Carlos Forbs escaped the offside trap and gave Nicolo Tresoldi an easy chance to beat Wojciech Szczesny. However, the lead only lasted two minutes when Barcelona responded through Ferran Torres‘ hard kick, who easily beat Nordin Jackers from close range.
Barca missed a chance to take the lead in the tenth minute when Fermin Lopez’s effort provided assist for Torres, hitting the left post. The hosts made the Spanish champions pay for their failure by regaining the lead in the 17th minute with a quick counter-attack. Forbs and Christos Tzolis worked well together, with Forbs continuing assist initially with a powerful kick that went past Szczesny.
Barcelona pushed hard for an equalizer in the second half when Fermin forced the Jackers into a brilliant save six minutes after the break, and their pressure finally paid off in the 60th minute when Lamine Yamal broke through the Brugge defense, playing a neat one-two with Fermin before finishing brilliantly past the Jackers.
However, the score only lasted two minutes when Forbs again tenaciously took advantage of Barcelona’s high defensive line to cleverly get past Szczesny and score his second and Brugge’s third.
Barcelona equalized again with a little over ten minutes remaining when Yamal’s cross was deflected past Jackers by Tzolis. Although Barca dominated, they relied on luck at the end of the game when Szczesny almost made a fatal mistake late on injury time in a match that was exciting and even.
