On Tuesday night, Flamengo’s board of directors presented the details of the fight between the club and Libra over the TV contract to the Deliberative Council. Data was shown to support the club’s claim that the entity disrespected its own rules when approving the TV division.
During the exhibition, the president of Flamengo, Luiz Eduardo Baptista, said that the president of Palmeiras, Leila Pereira, has a clear agenda – meaning her own. He cited the case of the R million loan from Crefisa to Vasco.
“I have no doubt that there is a very clear agenda. We are talking about this Libra problem. The company she presides over lent money to Vasco’s SAF. Who has ever borrowed money from a financial institution in their life? Does a bank ask as collateral for the shares of your business that is not doing well or asks for a guarantee of real assets? I want your farm, apartment. Who asks for 19% of the shares if it cannot be paid? It seems that the last time I saw this happen in Brazil, the Menin bought Atlético. They grew a debt that was necessary. The time came and they executed it. I find it absolutely strange? We are talking about Financial Fair Play in Brazil. This should be being questioned. Caesar’s wife is not enough to be honest, she has to appear honest. There is an agenda, I have no doubt about it. What the agenda will be, time will tell.”
