Ministry of Health Issues Nationwide Recall of “Dang Xuan Phuc Linh Gold” and “Best Slim collagen”
The Ministry of Health and Safety has issued a nationwide alert and recall for two health food products, “Dang Xuan Phuc Linh Gold” and “Best slim Collagen,” after discovering they contain Sibutramine, a banned substance. The recall, initiated on April 29, 2025, aims to remove these potentially risky products from circulation across all 63 provinces and cities.
Sibutramine, the substance detected in the recalled products, is an appetite suppressant that has been banned due to its severe health risks.According to the NHAN DAN
newspaper, Sibutramine poses significant dangers, especially for individuals with pre-existing cardiovascular conditions such as coronary arteriosclerosis, heart attack, arrhythmia, hypertension, or stroke.
Sibutramine is an appetite inhibitor for forbidden human use as there are many dangerous side effects for those with coronary arteriosclerosis, heart attack, arrhythmia, hypertension or stroke.
Vietnam has prohibited the use of Sibutramine in pharmaceuticals since 2010, with a complete recall of all Sibutramine-containing drugs in April 2011. This action underscores the seriousness of the health risks associated with this substance.
Deceptive Marketing and False Claims Plague Online Marketplaces
Both “Dang Xuan Phuc Linh Gold” and “Best Slim Collagen” were heavily marketed online as safe and effective weight loss aids. “Dang Xuan Phuc Linh Gold” was promoted as a health food that supports safe weight loss, burns excessive fat, and suppresses appetite, with prices ranging from 400,000 to 550,000 buildings per 30 tablets. Similarly, “Best Slim Collagen” was advertised to aid weight loss, priced between 650,000 and 850,000 buildings per 40 tablets.
The Ministry of Food and Safety has confirmed that the registration numbers printed on the packaging of these products are falsified. Furthermore, Hoa Anh Dao Medical Equipment Company Limited, the company listed for “Best Slim Collagen,” has denied importing the specific batch of the product (Lot/Production #29L367-01/2027), raising further concerns about the products’ origins and authenticity.
Government Agencies Collaborate to Combat Illegal Online Sales
In response to this public health threat, the Ministry of Health is collaborating with multiple government agencies to crack down on the sale and advertisement of these illegal products online. These agencies include:
- The Ministry of Digital Economy (Ministry of Trade, Industry and Economy)
- The Ministry of Industry and Advancement (Ministry of Trade, Industry and Development)
- The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism
These agencies are working to remove advertisements from e-commerce platforms, strengthen the management of e-commerce applications, and prevent the sale of counterfeit and recalled products. The Ministry of culture, Sports and Tourism is also targeting websites and social media platforms like Facebook and YouTube, demanding the removal of violating advertisements.
Ongoing Efforts to Eliminate Counterfeit Products
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Development is intensifying market management efforts to combat the distribution of illegal and smuggled goods. This includes cracking down on the production and sale of counterfeit products, prohibited items, and goods with unknown origins, in accordance with existing regulations.
The results of these ongoing efforts are being reported to the Food Safety Department for complete analysis and action.
