Bank of Canada Museum Sees Increase in Visitors and Expands Economic Literacy Programs

The museum’s educational resources reach teachers, families, and online audiences.


The Bank of Canada Museum experienced a surge in popularity in 2024, welcoming 68,448 visitors.This figure is close to the 2019 record and marks a 14% rise compared to 2023. The Museum attributes this success to its diverse and high-quality programming, designed to engage various communities.

These communities include:

  • Teachers across the country and across different grade levels
  • Followers of the Museum’s website and social media channels
  • Families seeking accessible, engaging and informative activities

The Museum has also broadened its reach and enhanced its educational offerings through collaborations with partners nationwide.

A key initiative was the October launch of “You Are the Economy,” a set of six free lesson plans and activities for grades 7-12.These resources aim to improve students’ understanding of economics and personal finances.The landing page for “You Are the Economy” garnered over 14,000 views in the three months following its release.

“you Are the Economy” provides resources to help teachers develop students’ understanding of economics and personal finances.

Canadian teachers also continued to utilize the Museum’s existing educational content. In 2024, the Museum’s school programs reached 8,433 students, including 4,998 virtually and 3,435 onsite, representing a 6% increase from 2023.
