Bank Fees You Can’t Be Charged | Illegal Bank Commissions

by Archynetys Economy Desk

From the Bank of Spain, they clarify that, as a general rule, the bank commissions are freely applied because they are quantities that are understood as consideration for the services offered by a bank. Each entity can establish what it charges, what no and the amount of them. The commissions due to the inactivity of the account, sending money by transfer, change of currencies, etc. are usually common.

However, from the agency they also remember that although banks may include the commissions they deem necessary, they are subject to certain restrictions: “They may freely collect what they decide, except in cases where the amount of the commissions are limited by a rule, such as the early cancellation of a mortgage or a consumer loan.”

In this way we know that there are certain regulations that regulate bank commissions to guarantee the rights of consumers and banking clients so that they do not suffer any discrimination. In case these charges exist, the bank must always notify the amount and the cause before proceeding or that there is an increase in the amount, for example in the maintenance commission.

However, then we collect what are the commissions regulated by Spanish legislation and which cannot be charged under any circumstances, since it would be illegal to proceed to their collection.
