The Government of Baja California Sur reported that, as of January 1, 2026, the International visitors must pay 488 pesos per person, as part of the tourist and environmental use of the programa Embrace it.
This amount was updated from the 470 pesos in force during 2025. The payment is mandatory for foreign tourists over 12 years old and is carried out exclusively online.
According to the official statement, the resources raised are destined to environmental protectiontourist infrastructure and social and cultural projects in communities on the peninsula.
The program is provided for in the state Treasury Law and applies to visitors who enter by air or land and stay more than 24 hours in destinations such as Los Cabos, Peace o Loreto.
He process is completed on the official platformwhich generates an electronic certificate with a QR code, which can be requested during the stay or at entry points in accordance with current regulations.
The program disseminated an x-ray of the foreign visitor corresponding to the second half of 2025. In that period, 77.1% of payment records corresponded to tourists from USA17.5% to Canada and 5.4% to other countries.
By age, the highest percentage was concentrated in travelers from 45 to 59 years old (30.25%) and 60 years and older (29.94%), followed by the range from 30 to 44 years (24.52%).
Regarding the operation, 74.92% of the transactions were carried out on business days, with Friday as the busiest day (15.87%).
The majority of payments were made in advance: 32.80% between one and two weeks before the trip and 27.39% between four and six days prior; only 5.41% paid on the same day. The most frequent stay was seven days (27.14%).
In this regard, Tourist Tax Méxicothe platform’s operating company, said: “We are proud of the acceptance that Embrace it has had among international visitors.”
The program operates under the collaborative framework Una Sola Voz, whose message is: “Pay for tourism use and protect Baja California Sur.”
