Swiss junior badminton championships next weekend in Widen
The best young talents are fighting for the Swiss badminton championship title. On December 13th and 14th, the Burkertsmatt in Widen will once again be the location for a badminton highlight. The event is organized by the Mutscheller Club – again.
It’s almost becoming a tradition. In recent years, the Freiamt has often hosted national events in this sport and is becoming a bit of a badminton mecca in the country. After two successful Swiss elite championships in 2022 and 2023, Badminton Mutschellen is now also holding the junior title fights.
Among the ten largest clubs in the country
The club is the largest badminton club in Aargau and is among the top 10 in this sport in Switzerland. Badminton Mutschellen is particularly pleased to be organizing a unique sporting event together with countless participants. An event like this is only possible thanks to the volunteers and the generous support of the Swisslos Sports Fund Canton of Aargau and other sponsors. In this way, the diverse tasks and costs from “A” – such as covering the windows for constant lighting conditions – to “Z” – such as creating a schedule for the entire tournament – can be easily covered.
Atmosphere, live sport and 19 championship titles
Sports fans throughout Freiamt can look forward to top-class and emotional games on their doorstep. A visit to Burkertsmatt is worth it: the unique atmosphere, the proximity to the young athletes and the opportunity to cheer on the stars of tomorrow live make for a special sporting experience. In the five disciplines of women’s singles, men’s singles, women’s doubles and mixed doubles, the title will be played in highly competitive games in four age categories. Spectators of this national event can watch numerous games in the hall at the same time and experience what badminton looks like at the top level. There are also seven players from the canton of Aargau. You are a member of the regional badminton squad and play at Badminton Mutschellen, BC Gibstorf or BC Obersiggenthal. Who knows, maybe a talent from the region will even win the title? –zg
