66 participants, games at eye level

On Sunday evening, March 15, 2026, the badminton department of TV Flieden hosted the ninth badminton leisure tournament. This tournament is aimed at all amateur badminton players. A total of 66 participants were able to prove themselves in two disciplines (men’s doubles and mixed).
The game was played on Sunday in the district sports hall in Flieden over five rounds in the so-called Swiss system. The Swiss system is one of the fairest tournament systems as no participant is eliminated from the tournament early. After each round, opponents with similar performance play against each other. This guarantees exciting games at eye level.
In the men’s doubles, Aluri Pramod Kumar and Murthy Raghav from SG Deutsche Bank fought their way to first place, second place went to Manu Kamath and Sharif Ali Sachal and third place went to Cristian Hillebrandt with Olaf Hermel from Post- und Telekom Siegen.
The badminton department of TV Flieden was very pleased that the amateur players once again received the tournament so well. The department’s board is also looking forward to another edition of the tournament and is planning it for spring 2027. One of the department’s goals is to offer a new discipline for 2027. Starting next year, a Golden Class will be established in which the player age is 50+. (pg/pm)+++
