President Biden And PM Netanyahu Discuss Hostage Negotiations…

US President Joe Biden had a phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu yesterday (6th).

The White House said President Biden discussed hostage negotiations, including ongoing talks in Doha, Qatar, in a phone call with Prime Minister Netanyahu.

In particular, the White House explained that President Biden reiterated his clear position regarding the operation on the ground against Rafah, Gaza Strip, where Israel adheres to its policy of force.

In this regard, White House National Security Communications Adviser John Kirby said that President Biden has repeatedly told Prime Minister Netanyahu that the United States does not support the Israeli ground operation in Rafah.

Smoke rises in eastern Rafah as the Israeli army begins ground and air operations in Rafah, southern Gaza Strip, on the 7th.

He emphasized that the operation should not go ahead unless there is a way to protect hundreds of thousands of Palestinian civilians in Rafah.

Meanwhile, the White House added that Prime Minister Netanyahu has agreed to ensure that those in need in Gaza can receive humanitarian aid through the recently opened Kerem-Shalom checkpoint.

In addition, President Biden celebrated Yom HaShoah,

Elversberg Crowns Their Stay In The Second Division…

Spiesen-Elversberg – Newcomers SV Elversberg crowned their secure stay in the 2nd Bundesliga with a home win against Hertha BSC. The Saarlanders beat the Bundesliga relegated team 4-2 (1-1) in front of 9,502 spectators and now have 43 points in their account as tenth in the table. The capital club remains in ninth place with 45 points.

Luca Schnellbacher with a brace in the 18th and 54th minutes, Paul Wanner (65th) and Kevin Koffi (88th) scored the goals for the promoted team, whose league stay was already certain before kick-off due to the mistakes made by the competition the day before. Florian Le Joncour (27th) with an own goal and Palko Dardai (61st) scored for Hertha.

The Berliners were missing the injured Marc-Oliver Kempf, for whom Marton Dardai moved into the center of defense. The guests were initially challenged on defense as Elversberg owned the starting phase of the game. The lead through a header from Schnellbacher was therefore deserved.

Only after falling behind did Hertha wake up and initiate its first dangerous attacks. Haris Tabakovic (25th) hit the post with his head after a cross from Fabian Reese, but shortly afterwards the ball was in the Elversberg goal.

Gianninis Girotondini In The Streets Against The Premiership.…

The new move of the “Girotondini” born in the chat of Massimo Giannini, editorialist of La Repubblica, is to take to the streets against the premiership. A flash mob to be held just a stone’s throw from Palazzo Chigi, or in front of the Chamber of Deputies. The idea comes from the actress Monica Guerritore, who would have liked to protest today, but there is no technical time. So Gianni & Co. decided to take time to organize themselves as best as possible and gather as many people as possible.

Meanwhile, one of the terrains that the new (not very spontaneous) movement intends to explore in the next few days is the Rai strike, called by Usigrai, which took place yesterday. And the campaign also continues, for now only via social media, on the still missing fifteenth constitutional judge, so much so that just yesterday a “contribution” by Gherardo Colombo, the former Mani Pulite prosecutor, was posted. And since any pretext is a good one, they also announce a mobilization regarding deaths at work, because – they claim – the massacre that took place in Palermo and «the transformation of a fundamental right into any “raw material” is debasing Article 1 of the Constitution» and it is “a mockery on people’s skin”.

Is Japan As Xenophobic As Biden Claims?

#Japan #Xenophobic #Biden #Claims

Jakarta –

The Japanese government has expressed “disappointment” with US President Joe Biden’s recent remarks, which described Japan as “xenophobic” when it comes to immigration policy.

At a campaign fundraiser on the evening of May 1, Biden considered Japan, along with India, China, and Russia, to be “xenophobic” countries when he tried to compare the economic conditions of those countries to those in the US, which is a country of immigrants.

Through diplomatic channels, Tokyo told the White House that the president’s remarks were not based on an “accurate understanding” of Japanese policy, Kyodo News reported citing a government official. Many Japanese and foreigners also expressed disapproval of Biden’s choice of words.

They said Japan granted entry permits to more refugees than last year, tourists consistently received a warm welcome and many foreign nationals were integrating into Japanese society.

For citizens of other countries, the comments prompted reflection on Japan’s policies towards asylum seekers, the low number of refugees and potential discrimination against foreign nationals.

What did Joe Biden say?

The diplomatic storm was sparked when Biden spoke at an event at a Washington hotel attended by Asian American voters.

Its Cinco De Mayo, And Festivities Are Planned…

The United States is preparing to celebrate Cinco de Mayo. On Sunday, there will be music, all-day happy hour and taco deals at locations across the country, in a celebration whose origins have been widely misunderstood and is rarely celebrated south of the border.

In the United States, this date is considered by many as a celebration of Mexican-American culture and dates back to the 19th century in California. Typical festivities include parades, street food, neighborhood parties, mariachi competitions and folk dances, with lithe dancers with bright ribbons in their braids and dazzling ruffled dresses.

For Americans with or without Mexican ancestors, the date has become an excuse to drink a lot of tequila with salt and lemon and gobble down tortilla chips dipped in cheddar cheese, which is little known among Mexicans.

The focus on drink and food has sparked criticism of the holiday, especially as brewers and other merchants have taken advantage of its festive nature and offensive stereotypes, such as huge fake mustaches and giant hats.

What is celebrated on May 5?
Cinco de Mayo commemorates the anniversary of the victory of the Mexican army over the invading French forces in the Battle of Puebla in 1862.

Xis Historic Visit To Serbia: Commemorating 25 Years…

Chinese Leader Xi Jinping’s Visit to Serbia

Chinese President Xi Jinping’s recent visit‌ to Serbia holds significant historical symbolism as it coincided with the 25th anniversary of ⁤the bombing of the Chinese Embassy in Belgrade during NATO’s air campaign over Kosovo.

The bombing, which occurred on May 7, 1999, resulted in the tragic deaths of three Chinese nationals and injuries to twenty others, straining relations between China and the United States. In an op-ed published in Serbia’s Politika newspaper, Xi Jinping emphasized the importance of remembering the past while advocating for peace and preventing such tragedies from recurring.

Background of the Embassy Bombing

The NATO air war in 1999 aimed to halt Serbian leader Slobodan Milosevic’s brutal actions against ethnic Albanian rebels in Kosovo. The accidental bombing of the Chinese Embassy, attributed to faulty intelligence, sparked outrage and anti-American sentiments in China.

Despite the U.S. apology for the incident, suspicions lingered, leading to ongoing mistrust between the two nations. The aftermath of the bombing highlighted the complexities of international conflicts and the lasting impact of such events on diplomatic relations.

China-Serbia Relations Post-Bombing

While the embassy bombing strained U.S.-China ties, it strengthened the bond between China and Serbia.
