With just a few years of tour in sport, Luis Ángel Santayana Rojas, student of the Salesian school, became the protagonist of the macroregional stage in table tennis in the 2025 school games.

In sports, reached third place in singles and second in doubles, standing out against demanding rivals. He recognized, however, that the preparation was short for the level of competition.

“Cusco’s team was very strong, I lacked training and my nerves also played me against me,” he admitted.

The weather and height also did not go unnoticed for a better performance during this competence at the level of educational institutions.

“The cold air can affect the throat and breathing. I managed to adapt, but a partner did cost a lot,” he explained.

Santayana analyzed that the serve was decisive in the matches and assured that the constancy will make the difference onwards.

“I will not prepare enough for other academic responsibilities, but I will learn that the key is always training,” he said.

Despite not keeping gold, the young athlete was motivated for the next editions of the School Games.

“I have two years to continue training and strive more. The important thing is to do my best and enjoy every moment,” he concluded.
