Avalanche, Fog & Smog Risk: Weather Update

by Archynetys News Desk

A massive air mass coming from Africa, known as the African anticyclone, has entered Italy bringing favorable weather conditions and pleasant temperatures, with peaks that can exceed seasonal averages by 8 degrees.

However, according to the forecasts of Lorenzo Tedici, meteorologist at iLMeteo.it, this phenomenon also leads to an increase in risk of avalanches, fog and air pollution“A powerful anticyclonic promontory of sub-tropical origin – he states – is conquering the Mediterranean. Temperatures will undergo a surge of 7-8 degrees above the averages of the period, with peaks of +10 degrees in the center and in the mountains. They will reach 20 degrees from North to South”.

Not only the sun will be present during this North African period: in the Po Valley, high pressure will compress humidity in the lower levels, favoring the return of fogs, especially in the eastern area, and a rapid increase in smog. At high altitudes, the avalanche risk will remain high throughout the Alpine chain, especially in the Eastern Alps.
