Czarnik Set to Ignite Lausanne’s Attack Through 2027

Lausanne Hockey Club has officially announced the signing of Austin Czarnik, a 32-year-old American center, to a contract extending through the 2026-27 season. The acquisition is expected to inject a important dose of offensive firepower and experiance into the team’s lineup.

From NCAA Standout to NHL Veteran

Czarnik’s journey to Lausanne began with a stellar collegiate career at Miami University, where he amassed an remarkable 169 points in 159 games. His dynamic playmaking abilities and offensive prowess quickly caught the attention of NHL scouts, leading to a free-agent contract with the Boston Bruins.

Before making his mark in Switzerland, Czarnik honed his skills in the AHL with the Providence Bruins, notching 61 points in 68 games during the 2015-16 season. This performance solidified his readiness for the NHL stage.

NHL experience and Swiss League Impact

Czarnik brings a wealth of experience from eight seasons in the NHL, where he played 205 games and recorded 51 points (33 assists) across several teams, including the Boston Bruins, Calgary Flames (under the tutelage of Geoff Ward), New York Islanders, Seattle Kraken, and Detroit red Wings. His time in North America provided him with invaluable experience at the highest level of professional hockey.

Transitioning to the Swiss National League in the 2024-25 season with SC Bern, Czarnik quickly established himself as a dominant force. He led the team in scoring with 56 points (20 goals and 36 assists), earning the title of PostFinance Top Scorer. Notably, Czarnik also topped the entire National League in overall scoring, demonstrating his immediate impact and effectiveness on the ice.
