Recent discussions have highlighted teh growing importance of international collaboration in the logistics sector. Following a productive mission to Florida, Assologistica is solidifying its relationship with the Sunshine State, aiming to streamline supply chains and foster innovation. This initiative builds upon a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on March 21st with the Florida Department of Transportation, Floridacomba, and the Florida Ports Council, marking a important step towards enhanced cooperation between italy and Florida.

During the two-day visit, Umberto Ruggerone, president of Assologistica, engaged in crucial talks with Florida’s Secretary of Transportation, Jared Perdue, and his team. These discussions focused on fleshing out the details of the MoU, initially agreed upon in Milan. The Italian Consul General in Miami, Michele Mistò, also emphasized the geopolitical importance of this logistical partnership, praising Assologistica’s commitment to supporting businesses, promoting investment, and sharing cutting-edge operational models.

Seatrade Cruise Global: A Platform for Collaboration

Assologistica’s participation in the Seatrade Cruise global event in Miami on April 8th further underscored the commitment to this partnership. The Italian delegation attended the inauguration of the Italian Pavilion and participated in the inaugural meeting of the working group established by the MoU. Representatives from Assoporti and leaders from Florida’s 16 public ports were also present. Discussions centered on optimizing customs and port procedures, infrastructure advancement, technological advancements, and cultivating new skills within the maritime industry.

The collaboration between Italy and Florida is especially timely, given the current complexities in the global supply chain. Recent data indicates a growing need for resilient and adaptable logistics networks.For example, the container Throughput Index from the Leibniz Institute for Economic research highlights ongoing fluctuations in global port activity, underscoring the importance of efficient and reliable logistics solutions.
