October 10, 2025 – The first places this year go to five companies: Dialog wins both in risk life and occupational disability, Generali in both household/home and service, Helvetia in unit-linked, Merkur in health insurance, Uniqa in accident insurance. Continentale, Donau, Merkur Leben and Wiener Städtische took second and/or third places.

The “Asscompact Awards” were presented for the 19th time on Thursday at the “Trend Day” in Vösendorf. The basis for this was a survey in which 2,358 independent agents took part, of which more than 80 percent were insurance brokers, as editor Franz Waghubinger said.
The majority of participants were male (78.6 percent), the average age was 50.7 years, and the industry experience was 30.1 years. Waghubinger gave an insight into the survey statistics before inviting the winners onto the stage together with co-moderator Wolfgang Kaiser.
This year, respondents were able to rate the insurers in seven categories – the same as last two years ago – based on individual criteria, such as transparency of acceptance policy, scope of coverage, price-performance ratio, flexibility of products and tariffs, quality of calculation and consulting software, quality of policy and quality of claims settlement.

Dialog continues to lead in the BU ranking
First place in occupational disability insurance goes to Dialog for the second time after 2023. Second place remains in the same hands, namely those of the Continentale insurance association.
In 2023, HDI Lebensversicherung took third place. The branch in Vienna has now closed and new business in Austria has ceased. New third is Mercury Life.

“Medal table”
As usual, we have also created an “unofficial medal table” for this year’s results. A total of nine companies shared the 21 top three positions.
According to the “Olympic method” – which not only takes into account the number of “medals”, but also whether they are gold, silver or bronze – the Generali is again the “overall winner” with two gold winners and a second and third place each, ahead of the Dialogue with – again – two “golden”.
Third is Uniqa with one “Gold”, two “Silver” and one “Bronze”. This is followed by Helvetia with one gold and one silver and two bronze medals. Places 5 and 6 go to Merkur and its daughter Merkur Leben respectively – if the two “Merkurs” are considered a team, they are in fourth place ex aequo with Helvetia.
And what about winning a medal, regardless of the type of precious metal? Most, namely four each, go to Generali, Helvetia and Uniqa, Merkur Leben gets three, Dialog two, Conti, Donau, Merkur and Städtische one each. If you were to add up the “Merkurs” here too, they would be one of four companies in first place.
