Dutch rider Michiel Mouris claimed the junior men’s time trial title Tuesday at the UCI Road World Championships.
Ashlin Barry delivered silver for the United States, finishing 6.84 seconds behind, to secure Team USA’s first medal of the Rwanda worlds.
The 17-year-old – born in Canada to ex-pros Michael Barry and Dede Demet-Barry but now racing with a U.S. license — is the U.S. junior national TT champ and runner-up at Paris-Roubaix Junior.
Belgium’s Seff Van Kerckhove rounded out the podium at 8.58 seconds back.
Fellow American Beckam Drake finished fourth at 13.55 seconds, while Great Britain’s Max Hinds took fifth.
The result gives the U.S. two riders in the top five, the best showing so far in Rwanda.
