The NT Council gives the go-ahead for wider use of breast cancer therapy

    #Council #goahead #wider #breast #cancer #therapy

The NT Council, Sweden’s council of municipalities and regions for new therapies, has previously recommended that the regions offer patients with unresectable or metastatic Her2-positive breast cancer treatment with the antibody-cytostatic conjugate Enhertu. Now the members of the council give the go-ahead for wider use, after price negotiations with the company behind the drug.

Treatment is now also recommended in patients with unresectable or metastatic breast cancer with low expression of the Her2 receptor, “who have previously received chemotherapy for metastatic disease or developed recurrence during or within six months after completion of adjuvant chemotherapy”.

Theo Foukakis, senior physician in oncology at Karolinska University Hospital and chairman of the national care program group for breast cancer, welcomes the news.

»It is a very important decision that both patients and doctors have been waiting for since the first report of the registration study came in June 2022 because the treatment leads to a significant extension of survival compared to the previous standard (chemotherapy)«, he writes in an email to Läkartidningen.

Prosthetic Limb Device Allows Amputees to Feel Temperature, Enhancing Sensory Feedback

Prosthetic limbs have come a long way in recent years, allowing amputees to regain some semblance of normalcy in their lives. However, there has always been one crucial aspect missing – the ability to experience temperature. Without this sensory feedback, amputees often struggle to interact with the world around them. But now, thanks to an innovative device called MiniTouch, that may be about to change.

The MiniTouch is the result of groundbreaking research conducted by a team at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne. By placing a temperature sensor on a prosthetic hand and replicating temperature changes on the skin of the arm, they have created a way for amputees to feel warmth or coolness through their artificial limb.

This breakthrough not only enhances sensory feedback but also opens up exciting possibilities for integrating other sensations into prosthetics. Professor Solaiman Shokur, senior author of the research, explains that temperature is essential for creating natural sensations in artificial limbs and could potentially allow users to perceive object temperatures and differentiate between materials.

“To give a natural sensation, you cannot do it without temperature.”

The researchers tested the MiniTouch on Fabrizio, who had his right arm amputated below the elbow.

Many people take so-called nutritional supplements, vitamin pills or other types of capsules. They do this because they strive for a healthy body or are looking for easy compensation for the unhealthiness of the convenience food that the food industry serves to consumers. However, taking the tablets that are often available in the supermarket is not without danger.

One in two Australians takes nutritional supplements, research shows. It is therefore a billion-dollar industry. Nutrition expert Joanna Harnett explains in the morning program of the public broadcaster ABC that the country has one of the best regulations of such supplements in the world. But that does not alter the fact that people should pay close attention to maximum doses. She mentions iron and zinc tablets as examples, which can cause serious health damage.

Preventing such problems is very simple. Anyone who eats enough fruit and vegetables gets all the nutrients that are sold in the jars for a lot of money. It may take a little more effort, but if you don’t take the time to eat healthy,

Shota Morishita Vows to Be the Face of Tora and Sanspo for Upcoming Season

Morishita promised to become the face of Tora and Sanspo.

Hanshin Spring Camp (9th, Ginoza, Okinawa) I’m the main character! ! Hanshin outfielder Shota Morishita (23) first appeared on the 9th, a vacation from Ginoza camp in Okinawa, in Sanspo’s famous project “Fighting Tiger’s Promise”, which was revived after the coronavirus pandemic. Wakatora, who has been the No. 3 player since his rookie year and helped win the championship and become Japan’s No. 1 player, has pledged to appear on the front page of Sun Sports as many times this season. As a reward for reaching the goal, I asked for a “high-end appliance” that was slightly better than average. Let’s make it cover the front page every day with his efforts in leading Okada Tora to back-to-back wins in his second year! !

The “1” design that has been revived for the first time in a long time is, of course, the Fierce Tiger number 1 jersey! ! I headed to Morishita. He’s the same age as me, 23, so I hope you’ll like the way he talks, which you don’t see often. Let me explain this project, which appears for the first time…

“Does that mean you can get something if you do this?

SP-Holzleitner: Free contraceptives should long ago be a matter of course 2024-02-10 05:49:37

SPÖ women’s spokeswoman supports referendum on free contraception

Vienna (OTS/SK) – “In 2024, free and suitable contraceptives should actually be a matter of course in Austria,” says the deputy. Club chairwoman and SPÖ women’s spokesperson Eva-Maria Holzleitner. “I therefore welcome and support the initiative surrounding the referendum on ‘free contraception’.” Unfortunately, there is currently no movement in this area with the ÖVP and the Greens in the government. Initiatives like those of Aids Hilfe Wien, the ÖGF and the Vemina association are all the more important. ****

It is still an illusion that every woman can freely use the contraceptive method that suits her needs: “The sometimes very high costs that women often have to bear alone are a major obstacle for many. It is therefore high time that contraceptives were finally made available free of charge in Austria,” said Holzleitner, who sees this as an important step towards more self-d etermination for women. It is particularly relevant that the individual needs of each woman are taken into account. “Contraception cannot follow a one-size-fits-all logic. For example, whether the pill, IUD or diaphragm is the right decision should only be decided by the woman herself in consultation with her doctor.
