West Point, NY — Army Black Knights quarterback Bryson Daily will miss Saturday’s game against Air Force due to an unidentified injury/illness, Army officials announced to ESPN.
Daily’s Impressive Season
Daily has been a driving force for Army’s offensive success. He is currently leading the nation and all FBS quarterbacks with 19 rushing touchdowns and 909 rushing yards. His contribution to the team’s records includes a dramatic 171-yard performance with six touchdowns (five rushing and one passing) in a recent 45-28 win against East Carolina.
Coleman Steps Up to Fill the Gap
With Daily sidelined, junior Dewayne Coleman will make his first career start at quarterback. Coleman is a reliable backup and should not be overwhelmed, given Army’s history of establishing strong backups in crunch times.
Impact on Competition
Army’s season will continue as they have a bye week scheduled for next week before traveling to North Texas for an AAC matchup. The Knights will then face Notre Dame at Yankee Stadium. The upcoming weeks will play a significant role in determining their Anspruch to the College Football Playoff spot for Group of 5.
Closing Thoughts
The injury to Daily is a setback, but Army’s depth and resilience remain a tremendous asset. For Now, the focus is on ensuring Coleman is well-supported, and the Knights’ momentum is maintained, aiming for their best season in decades.
