CLEVELAND COUNTY, Ark. — Arkansas officials announced on Friday that Cleveland County Judge Jimmy Cummings passed away on August 28, 2025.
According to officials, Cummings died following a single vehicle accident near Kingsland.
Judge Cummings was serving in his first term as county judge prior to his passing on Thursday.
Following the announcement of Cummings’s passing, Arkansas Congressman Bruce Westerman released the following statement:
“Judge Cummings was serving his first term as county judge, proving to be a dedicated leader and committed public servant who left an indelible mark on the Cleveland County community.
“Judge Cummings was not only an exceptional public official but also a proud veteran who answered the call to serve his country with honor. His exemplary military service underscores his committed dedication to others, whether on the battlefield or in the halls of local government. Through his leadership, Judge Cummings embodied the values of integrity, courage, and selflessness.
“Our prayers are with his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Cleveland County has lost a steadfast leader whose legacy of service remains an example to all. May God bless and comfort his loved ones during this difficult time.”
The Republican Party of Arkansas also released a statement on Friday, where they thanked Cummings for his “dedicated leadership as an elected official.”
“We are deeply saddened by the passing of County Judge Jimmy Cummings. We are grateful for his many contributions over the years to the Republican Party and for his dedicated leadership as an elected official. He worked tirelessly to represent the conservative values that strengthen Arkansas and improve the lives of the people of Cleveland County,” said Joseph K. Wood, Chairman of the Republican Party of Arkansas. “His legacy of service and commitment to our shared principles will not be forgotten. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and all those who were touched by his leadership.”
