Liepaja’s cultural hotspot, “Pegaza Yard,” is set to host a diverse range of events throughout April, promising something for everyone. From captivating jazz performances to thought-provoking comedy and even a foray into the darker side of human relationships, the venue’s calendar is packed with engaging experiences.
Musical Highlights
Latin Jazz Fusion with “Pies en la Tierra”
Kicking off the musical festivities on April 6th is “Pies en la Tierra,” a renowned latin American jazz ensemble with over two decades of experience. Their performance at “Pegaza Court” will blend traditional Latin sounds with contemporary jazz improvisations. The band features Raimon Rovir (keyboards, Spain), Kaijo Ituralde (Bass, Ecuador), Ramiro Olasireg (guitar, Argentina), and Carlos Alban (percussion, Ecuador). Adding a local touch, Latvian saxophonist Tom Rudzinsky will join them as a special guest.

Roseye: A Fusion of Soul, Jazz, Hip Hop, and electronic Music
On April 23rd, prepare for an unforgettable musical journey with Roseye, a jazz band that seamlessly blends soul, jazz, hip hop, and electronic music. Talula Roosa, the group’s soloist, captivates audiences with her deep voice and saxophone, exploring themes of nature, sexuality, mourning, healing, violence, and love. She is joined by guitarist Yellar Warsaw, drummer Kaspar Petkus, bassist Deborah Slijkhuisa, and keyboardist Joshua Lucs. their energetic and emotionally charged performances promise a truly special evening.

Concluding the month’s musical offerings on April 30th is a love song concert by the trio “Open music.” Liepaja Theater actress Everita Pjata-Gertner, pianist Normunds Kalniņš, and double bassist raitis Eleris will create a warm and intimate atmosphere, performing beloved songs that have resonated with generations. Jemma Silver’s “Women-Šķība”: Challenging Stereotypes with Humor
On April 12th, comedian Jemma Silver takes the stage with her latest program, “Women.” known for her witty irony, Silver tackles stereotypes and societal expectations surrounding women, addressing the role of women in today’s world, their rights, and the challenges they face.expect a humorous and thought-provoking performance.

Traditional dance Evening with “Kocis”
For those looking to move their feet, April 16th brings the fourth dance evening of “Pegaza in the living room.” Young members of the folklore group “Kocis” will guide attendees, both experienced dancers and beginners, through the steps and origins of various dances. The program will feature dances from Kurzeme and othre regions of Latvia, as well as traditional dances from other nations.

“Karakums” 30th Anniversary concert
Normunds Jakušonoks and Kaspars Tīmanis celebrate the 30th anniversary of the duo “Karakums” and on April 26 invites to the concert “Pegaza in the living room”.The band’s repertoire includes both the biggest hits of the Latvian stage and the masterpieces of foreign music. The “Favorite Type” group cannot be overlooked either. They will all be heard in a cheerful program “Pegaza’s yard”.

A Darker Outlook: Criminology Lecture Show
“Until Death Will Separate Us”: Exploring the Shadow Side of Relationships
On april 24th, “Pegaza Yard” offers a unique and perhaps unsettling experience with the lecture show “Until Death Sorts Us.” Ruth Trey (Gmbps), a lecturer in forensic science and criminology, will delve into the darkest corners of human relationships, examining cases where love and crime intersect. This event is not for the faint of heart,as it will explore themes of murder,violence,and passions that have spiraled out of control. Note that this event is restricted to individuals aged 18 and older.
