Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – AI development in Apple is said to be defeated by similar products in other companies such as Google, Meta and Amazon. Giant internal employees from Cupertino United States (US) revealed the reason.
One of the company’s biggest innovations was introduced through Apple Intelligence in the iPhone series. Apple promised a cellphone made for Apple Intelligence, but the reality was not like that.
Apple Intelligence is not directly available when the iPhone 16 was released. There are only a small amount of promised features, but most do not exist.
One reason AI did not develop well in Apple because the bosses did not see their potential. Including the late Steve Jobs, although he was dismantled with siri but did not see the surroundings and what was becoming a trend.
Likewise, the Senior Vice President of Apple’s software engineering, Craig Federighi. Phone Arena quoted an internal employee said she did not see AI would be something important and reluctant to invest in AI, quoted on Thursday (5/22/2025).
Actually the executives had begun to see the potential of AI more than a decade ago, while trying to bring Federighi to the company. But apparently he did not listen to that potential.
Meanwhile, other executives at the Federighi level are not much different. They are skeptical about AI’s future.
It’s a shame it’s too late when they want to pursue their competitors. Apple and Federighi were reportedly surprised by AI’s extraordinary abilities.
Another reason is the privacy of user data. Apple is known to be very tight about this, but for AI makes its development in the company slowed down.
Companies are reluctant to train AI on iPhone and Mac user data. Apple also opened the website option out of the list of sources that web crawler can erode for data.
That is, Phone Arena noted that Apple remained left behind despite starting to use resources for AI development.
