Apple Job: Brazilian Student’s Move to Ireland | Murilo Lopes

by Archynetys Technology & Science Desk

Murilo Oliveira Lopes had just completed the BI education in Bergen and applied for some jobs without luck, when he received a message at .

– I thought it was Scam to begin with, says the young man to BA.

So did others he was talking to, including his mother, who feared he would be kidnapped!

The inquiry came from a recruiter in Apple. The company, which makes computers, phones, watches and much more in shining metal, is one of the largest in the world. In Cork in Ireland, they have their European headquarters with 6,000 employees from over 90 nations.

Murilo was invited to apply for work, and after a process of both interviews and ability tests, he was hired to work with artificial intelligence and Apple’s voice assistant “Siri”. Perhaps not the most obvious career path for a man with education in HR, leadership and organizational psychology.

– Why did you get the job?

-I also wonder a little, says the 22-year-old and laughs.

But Oliveira Lopes has a theory. He is half Portuguese, half Brazilian, has a mother who has lived in Spain and has even studied in Korea. All in all, he can Norwegian, English, Portuguese, Spanish, French and a little Korean.

– I have a multicultural background, and will help to develop Siri’s language skills, he says.

– They thinkt will help on the CV

The newly hired man has been told that he is one of 1,600 new employees, and has been awarded a one -year contract for the hardware giant. The port city of Cork is Ireland’s second largest city.

– I have heard that there should be a good balance between work and leisure. I like to explore new places and new culture, so I’m really looking forward to saying how it is.

He says that wages are not high according to the Norwegian standard, but that working hours are flexible and that the goal is to gain experience and a small adventure.

– I don’t have any expectations for my own future in the company, but I think it will help on the CV to have Apple there, he says.

He knows no one else in Cork, but has been told that there are a few other Norwegians working in the company.

– I think it’s exciting. There is definitely an opportunity you can’t say no to, says Oliveira Lopes.

On Saturday he moves from Bergen to Cork.

– Then it’s right at work on Monday.

– Feel free to use some touch and humor

For newly qualified job seekers, Ingvill Thorkildsen highlights one special thing as the most important.

She is the department head in a career, and works extensively with newly qualified job seekers.

– I think one of the most important things is to understand the job you are looking for. Understand as a lot you can, use information sources, not just read the job announcement, but check their websites, Google things and search on LinkedIn, Thorkildsen says, adding:

– The most important thing is that you make yourself relevant to the position. If you fall on completely obvious things, you will be seen.

She emphasizes that you can of course not know everything about the job until you actually work there, but that the point is you have to tip the application as best you can in for the job you are applying.

– It often takes a lot of time and for graduates it can seem very demanding, but without their own investigations it is almost wasted to apply.

Thorkildsen highlights the question “What motivates you?” Like something wise to put yourself in the search process.

– I understand that it is to pay down the student loan and to get a salary, but you have to investigate a little with yourself. What are you wanting to do with the job? As a newly qualified job seeker, you must not be as concerned about what you get out of the job, but what motivation you have for the tasks.

Finally, the career counselor points out the importance of separating KI.

-The KI applications look like good applications, but they are very superficial and employers quickly look through the fact that it is KI. Therefore, it is extra important to show that you are a person. Describe yourself through examples and stories, and feel free to use a little touch and humor if it suits the position.
