Apple Intelligence iOS 18.4 iPadOS 18.4 Bêta Disponibles pour Développeurs

European Apple users will have to wait a few more weeks to access Apple Intelligence features on their iPhones and iPads. However, developers can now experiment with these features using the initial beta versions of iOS 18.4 and iPadOS 18.4, which have just been released.

The launch of the first iOS 18.4 beta is eagerly anticipated! Apple has opted for quality over quantity, ensuring a well-polished version for developers. This update is crucial as it introduces support for Apple Intelligence functions within the European Union, supporting eight languages from the continent (French, German, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish among others).

New AI Features in iOS 18.4

These revolutionary features will be available to the public around April; developers can start exploring them now. Apple plans a public beta release soon for the most enthusiastic users who cannot wait.

All Apple Intelligence functions are included:

  • Notification Summaries: Summarizes content from grouped notifications. Apple has fine-tuned this feature to address criticism from media publishers, who complained about inaccuracies.
  • Writing Assistance Tools: These tools, currently functional in text-input applications, correct spelling, rewrite text, adjust tone, and create lists.
  • Mail Organization: Emails are categorized into groups like important, commerce, subscriptions, and promotions.
  • Email Summaries: Summarize the content of emails in two or three sentences.
  • Smart Responses in Mail: Generates potential responses to emails, requiring user verification before sending.
  • Call Transcription and Summaries: Converts voice notes from the Phone app and records from the Notes app into text and summarizes them.
  • Memory Generation in Photos: Uses text queries to create memories from images.
  • Image Playground: Generates images from text queries or base photos.
  • Genmoji: A built-in emoji keyboard that generates emojis from text prompts.
  • Visual Intelligence: Similar to Google Lens, it identifies locations and objects with a long press of the camera button on iPhone 16 models.
  • Enhanced Siri: Features a new, more dynamic interface around the screen, improved understanding of device functions and settings.
  • Integration with ChatGPT: ChatGPT steps in when Siri struggles, aiding in text generation with writing tools.

Apple has not fully integrated planned updates, such as improved context comprehension and deeper app-specific function integration for Siri. These features might be delayed.

Although Apple Intelligence remains in beta testing, it operates automatically. While this might be intriguing, the feature does consume significant storage. Users can turn it off if desired. Simpler tasks are processed locally by the device, while more complex ones are managed by Apple’s secure servers.

To access these features, users need compatible devices such as iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Pro; iPad, or Mac models equipped with M1 or newer processors. Additionally, the upcoming Vision Pro device supports Apple Intelligence with visionOS 2.4’s first beta.

This update also includes a new European Union-specific feature: the ability to set default navigation and translation apps. Furthermore, iOS 18.4 introduces a fresh set of emojis, including one depicting a face with puffy eyes, symbolizing modern digital fatigue.
