The author Antoine Cortes meets the public this Friday October 31 at 5:30 p.m., at the Pinell pastry shop in Millas. The writer will present his sixth novel there, Awakening of Shadowsa thriller where mystery, history and the supernatural mingle in the landscapes of Roussillon. Originally from Millas, the author has never broken the link with his territory. Known for his series The Unexpected and for his two works dedicated to his native village, he returns with a darker, more captivating story, where the Pyrénées-Orientales become the setting for a gripping intrigue. In The awakening of shadows, the story opens in Castelnou, a village perched on the heights of Roussillon. A murder disturbs the tranquility of the place. Very quickly, investigators discover strange symbols engraved in the stone and links with an ancient crime that occurred at the Château de Quéribus. Between the hermitage of Força Réal, the streets of Eus, the abbey of Saint-Michel de Cuxa, the dolmen of Midi del Vent and the forgotten archives of the department, the reader plunges into a universe where each stone seems to retain the memory of the secrets of the past. Antoine Cortes has created a fantastic thriller led by a strong trio: Marie, a former police officer turned detective, Fred, an investigative journalist, and Vincent, an archaeologist with a passion for local history. Together, they confront the darkness of the past to reveal a forgotten brotherhood, still present in the shadows of the South.
The choice of October 31, Halloween day, is not trivial. The date, between light and darkness, corresponds perfectly to the atmosphere of the novel, where mystery lurks on every page.
Antoine Cortes invites readers and curious people to come and discuss his world and his writing work. A meeting marked by sharing, mystery and literature.
