Annaberg-Buchholz Winter Sports | Magic & Conditions

by Archynetys World Desk

Annaberg-Buchholz, January 9th, 2026 – The wintry temperatures and the persistent snowfall of the past few days offer ideal conditions for sport and fun in the snow in Annaberg-Buchholz. The mobile team from the city depot ensures good winter sports conditions, which have prevailed since the beginning of the week.

Freshly prepared routes for ski hikers and cross-country skiers

Well-prepared ski hiking trails in the picturesque Ore Mountains landscape are waiting to be conquered by cross-country skiers and ski hikers. The toboggan run on Pöhlberg has also been freshly prepared and offers excellent conditions for toboggan fans.

The mobile team prepared the route from the Pöhlberg via the “Morgensonne” to the “Kerzenwelt Kühberg” using a snow groomer and cross-country ski tracker. The “mixing area” on Pöhlberg offers ideal conditions for cross-country skiing and skating – even with floodlights until 9 p.m. in the evening. However, in exposed locations, drifts can occur, so caution is advised.

Entry points and information

For the Annaberg district, there are informative boards at the entry points “Butterfässer car park” and “Mischplatz” which explain the route. In Cunersdorf you can find information about the ski hiking route on the loop south of the town in the direction of B 95 “Am Einschnitt”. For Buchholz and Frohnau there are entry points at the “Neu Amerika” sports field and at the edge of the forest towards “Heiterer Blick”. Due to drifts, the route in Buchholz could not yet be tracked, but this is planned for the upcoming weekend. The entrance at the “Kindergarten Frohnau” in the direction of “Neu Amerika” to the connection to Sehma, Walthersdorf and further into the Fichtelberg area is also easy to use. Parking is available at all entry points.

It should be noted that despite well-prepared routes, weather and wind influences can cause impairments or drifts.

All areas will be visited again today and tomorrow by the mobile team during the day.

Downhill fun for skiers, snowboarders and toboggan fans

The lift in Geyersdorf, operated by the members of the Geyersdorf Ski Club, is currently open for all downhill skiing winter sports fans and takes not only skiers and snowboarders, but also toboggan fans to the top. Regardless of whether you’re on a board or a sledge, you shouldn’t miss a helmet. Without it, transport is not possible and, for safety reasons, it should always be an integral part of your winter equipment to protect yourself.

The lift at the “Kreherwiese” on the Pöhlberg will be put into operation in the coming days and the slope will also continue to be prepared, says the ski club SC Norwegian 1896 Annaberg e. V. with.

Pedestrians are asked to be considerate in cross-country skiing and skating areas

The mobile team asks all pedestrians not to enter the prepared cross-country skiing tracks and skating areas in order to preserve their condition. The winter sports enthusiasts thank you for your understanding and consideration.
