In a peaceful departure, Ann Rooney née Kennedy, who resided in John’s Row, Westport, left this world on February 4, 2025. Her family, friends, and community members are left to cherish her memory and grieve her loss.
A Lifetime of Love and Laughter
Born in Swinford, Ann was predeceased by her parents, Annie and Joseph, and her brothers, Mervin and Martin. Despite her immense sense of loss, Ann’s life was a testament to love, respect, and an unwavering dedication to her family.
Deepest Regrets
Her loving family deeply regrets Ann’s passing. Her husband, Hughie, has been by her side through it all, and their bond was one of the most exemplary in the community. Ann was also deeply cherished by her daughters, Ann-Marie (Sheridan), Breda (Campbell), and Rebecca, who were her greatest joys.
Enduring Legacy
Ann’s precious grandchildren, Leah, Jamie, Niamh, Aidan, Ava, and Lauren, will remember her for her boundless energy and warmth. Her sons-in-law, James and Anthony, shared countless memorable moments with her. Ann’s sisters, Marie and Stephanie, along with her brothers, Padraig, Jo Jo, Gary, Ger, Eamon, John, Stephen, and Dessie, are all devastated.
Her brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbors, and many friends will miss her presence dearly. Ann’s legacy is one of kindness, generosity, and an endless capacity for love.
Community Support and Remembrance
The community in Westport has come together to support Ann’s family through this difficult time. Reposing in Navin’s Funeral Home, Westport, on Friday, February 7, 2025, from 5 PM to 7 PM, Ann’s body lay in peace. Her funeral arrived at St. Mary’s Church on Saturday, February 8, 2025, for a Mass at noon.

For those unable to attend, Ann’s Funeral Mass will be available to view online at ChurchTV Westport.
Following the funeral Mass, Ann will be cremated at Shannon Crematorium at 4 PM. The event can be watched online via Shannon Crematorium by accessing the live streaming link on the main page and using the code PWR16.
