The city of Ankeny has appointed Mike Schrock as city manager effective immediately, following a nationwide search. Schrock has served as interim city manager since January when David Jones left to join the city of Urbandale staff. Before that, he was assistant city manager since 2021. With more than 20 years of public administration experience, including 12 years as a city manager in Iowa, Schrock has overseen major city projects and supported Ankeny’s growth. “Mike Schrock has been a steady, trusted leader for our city. During the past year as interim city manager, he demonstrated clear understanding of the council’s priorities, strong leadership with our staff, and a thoughtful approach to management. I am confident Mike’s experience, integrity and commitment to this community will serve Ankeny well into the future,” Ankeny Mayor Bobbi Bentz said in a prepared statement. The city of Ankeny will begin recruiting for a new assistant city manager.
