Critical blood Shortage in Charente Demands Immediate action

Charente is currently grappling with a concerning shortfall in blood reserves, prompting an urgent appeal for blood donors. The situation is particularly critical as the region lags behind its projected donation targets. As of April 6th, the region was facing a deficit of 436 blood bags compared to forecasts, with only 3,879 samples collected. This concerning trend highlights a dip in donor participation, raising alarms about the potential impact on healthcare services.

Donation Details and Eligibility

The blood donation drive is taking place at the Town Hall. while Friday afternoon appointments are fully booked, slots are still available for Saturday. Walk-ins are welcome on Saturday.

To be eligible to donate blood, individuals must meet specific criteria:

• Be at least 18 years old
• Be in good health
• Not have been sick in the past 15 days
• Not have any pre-existing infections or pathologies
• Weigh more than 50 kilograms
• Provide a valid form of identification
