The region of Andalusia is celebrating after receiving three prestigious Best in Class (BiC) awards for its outstanding contributions to healthcare. The Minister of Health of the Junta de Andalucía,Rocío Hernández,expressed her pride and satisfaction at the regional awards ceremony held in Seville.
Andalusia distinguished itself in the Special Awards category, securing recognition for Best hospital Management (supported by Pierre Fabre), Better Approach to Social Determinants of Health (backed by MSD), and Best One Health Strategy (promoted by Hipra).
Hernández highlighted the meaning of the One health and Social Determinants of Health awards, noting their focus on “generating more health outside our health centers,” rather than solely concentrating on hospital-based care.

The Minister also commended the team behind the Best Hospital Management award, acknowledging their efforts in making advanced therapies accessible to patients.She urged them to “continue working with illusion,” emphasizing the importance of remembering the patients and families who benefit from their work.
Santiago de Quiroga, president editor of Gazeta Medical, welcomed attendees to the ceremony, which was led by Sofía salazar, associated director of public affairs of Wecare-U. Quiroga emphasized the competitive nature of the awards,noting that “the three awards such as the three achieved by Andalusia are practically attended by all the autonomous communities.” He added that the distinctions demonstrate how effective strategies “positively impacts on people’s health.”
Best One Health strategy
Ulises Ameyugo, Deputy Director of Health Protection of the Junta de Andalucía, accepted the award for Best One Health Strategy from Hernández and Francisco Zurita (Hipter). ameyugo stated that the award “recognizes the work developed by all public health professionals in Andalusia.” He explained that his department’s approach involves “addressing diseases and public health problems with an ecosystem vision, taking into account the ecosystem in a broad sense.”
Best hospital management
Gloria Carmona, Technical Coordinator of the Andalusian Network of Advanced Therapies, received the Best Hospital management Award in the CCAA from María Luisa del Moral, Vice Minister of Health and Consumption of the Board, and Rafael Pérez (Stone fabre). Carmona expressed her desire for Andalusia to “continue being up and that our autonomous community shines and does it more and more.” She also acknowledged the importance of teamwork, stating, “Thanks to the effort we make, each one from our little plot, we manage to be where we are.”

Better approach to DSS
Teresa Campos, Deputy Director of pharmaceutical Planning, Strategy, Prevention and Promotion of the Board, received the award recognizing Andalusia’s best approach to DSS from the counselor and Raquel Gálvez (MSD). Campos affirmed her commitment as a public health specialist, emphasizing that an interprofessional approach is “essential” to guarantee the sustainability of the health system and equal access.
