A commercial plane that covered the route between the city of Miami, United States, and the international airport of Rionegro, Antioquia, landed with some alleged bullet holes in one of its wings.
The information was released this Tuesday by United States media, indicating that it was an American Airlines aircraft that traveled last Sunday.
CBS News, citing a confidential source from that company, noted that the holes were detected on flight 923, which took off at 5:30 pm and landed at 9:00 pm on February 22.
“After a routine inspection, our teams identified a perforation on the exterior of one of our aircraft in Medellín, Colombia. The aircraft was immediately removed from service for further inspection and repair. We will collaborate closely with the competent authorities to investigate this incident,” said the aforementioned source.
Temporary repairs were reportedly made and the plane, a Boeing 737 MAX, returned to Miami on Monday for further inspection. The authorities stressed that this incident did not leave any passengers or crew injured.
From the Civil Aeronautics they indicated that they are aware of what happened on the part of the airline and that everything was known after a verification at the Miami international airport.
“To date, this aeronautical authority has not received formal notification about this event from the air operator, nor from the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), nor from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), of the United States, competent authorities in said country,” indicated from Aerocivil.
At the moment there are no public statements from American Airlines regarding the incident.
It is expected that in the coming days the origin of these drillings and where they originated will be known through the judicial investigations that the authorities will have to carry out in the United States.
